EARTHLINGS | BKTA

I watched Earthlings during the summer of 2015. The first time I watched it, I couldn’t finish it. The second time I watched it, I barely made it to the end. My emotions were raging from sadness to anger to guilt all in the first 30 minutes. Earthlings is not a film you should watch lightly. We all know where our meat comes from. We all know that innocent animals are slaughtered every second. Yet, most of us refuse to see it. We refuse to see how our food is being made. We refuse to see an animal being sliced and chopped into pieces. We ignore their screams of agony and refuse to acknowledge that they feel pain, just like we do. We refuse to watch the truth behind the meals on our plates. Why? Because it’s disgusting? Because it makes us feel guilty? Because we know that if we watch movies that show this form of cruelty, we’ll consider going vegetarian, or worse, vegan? My thing is: If it’s not good enough for your eyes, what makes it good enough for your stomach?

  1. I would love to become a vegan someday! As a student, it’s quite difficult for me to transition into that lifestyle. I have not seen Earthlings yet, but I really should to be more knowledgeable about animal cruelty.

    1. That’s awesome that you want to become vegan someday! I live in a house full of meat eaters and I live in Georgia, so I understand that it can be difficult to make a transition like this one, but it’s worth the challenge 🙂 Earthlings is a great eye opener, I hope you get the chance to watch it!

  2. Oh wow, this is just heartbreaking. I’m actually currently transitioning to veganism, I just can’t deal with how cruel humans are to animals when they’ve done nothing to us; there’s just no excuse for it. xx
